A native of Terrell County, GA, Peggy was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women, earning a BS degree in business education. She and her family moved to Decatur, AL in 1964. As a resident of Decatur, Peggy became a dedicated servant of her church and community. At Ninth Street United Methodist Church she served as church librarian and was a member of a church circle and active in Sunday school. She became a community leader, serving as chairwoman of the Decatur Planning Commission 2001-2003; president of the Decatur Woman's Club (and named their Woman of the Year in 1967 and 1993); a member of the Board of Directors of Operation Home; a loyal member of the Women's Chamber of Commerce; and a member of the Decatur Safety Council. She was also a member of the Les Femmes Elegantes chapter of the Red Hat Society; the Oak Leaves; and various other social organizations. Peggy was preceded in death by her son Larry Tyler; her mother Zelma Sullivan; and her father, Kay Mack Sullivan. Emmett M. Cox, Jr., age 98, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016.Mr. Cox was a veteran of WWII and retired after 30 years of service as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Legion of Merit.During WWII, he served in North Africa and the battle of the Anzio Beach Head in Italy. After the war, he served in the United States, but at times was stationed in South Korea and Naples, Italy.He was a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Yvonne M. John Maxwell "Max" Wood, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 in Fairhope where he had resided for 25 years.Max was born to John Hackworth Wood and Olga Pope Wood in the small community of Dixon Mills in Marengo County.After serving four years in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer, Max returned home and enrolled at the University of West Alabama, receiving both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Max completed his post graduate MAA studies at the University of Alabama.Max retired after serving 35 years as an educator, fulfilling the positions of teacher, principal and superintendent of education.Also active in civic affairs in Linden and Jackson, Max was president of the Linden County Club and Linden Rotary Club.While residing in Jackson, Max served on the Jackson Zoning Board and the Jackson Planning Commission; he was chairman of both.After retiring in 1991, Max and Susan moved to Fairhope where he enjoyed many years of golf. Max joined First Baptist Church of Fairhope and worshipped there for 25 years.Max was preceded in death b
