Carl Wheeler, 83, of Safford, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Gilbert. Carl was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Bowie. He was the second child of Ben Mason and Lena Pearle Inglis Wheeler, with an older sister, Betty Jean.His early childhood was spent on the family homestead, known as the Wheeler Place, just northeast of the town of Bowie in southeastern Arizona. The Wheeler Place is still, to this day, a location on Arizona maps. When his sister was old enough to go to school, they moved south to the town of Paradise. Later, they moved to Lancaster, Calif., where he started first grade. He also went to grade school in Plantsite, Morenci and Virden, N.M., where his father obtained employment as a carpenter.When Carl was 12, the family moved to Pima. He attended the Pima schools, and during his senior year, his mother passed away due to cancer. After graduating, his sister was away attending college and his father decided to go to California, so Carl enrolled in Eastern Arizona Junior College. He had participa

Tommy was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Morenci to William Jack and Iva Ruth Adams.Tommy graduated from Duncan High School and, soon after, married the love of his life, Donna Farley, on March 4, 1966, in Safford. Together, they raised three children: Danny, Kandy and Karen.He became a carpenter by trade and loved doing woodworking projects. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings and positions.He is survived by: his one true love, Donna Adams; daughters; Kandy (Clint) Bassett and Karen (Jim) Norton; siblings; Jackie Moore, Norman (Zoann) Adams and Debra (Carl) Crotts; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Iva Ruth Adams; and his son, Danny Wayne Adams.A viewing will be held Friday, March 10, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the newly renovated Caldwell Funeral Chapel, and then again Saturday, March 11, 2017, beginning at 9 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Thatcher Stake Center, with the funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Graham Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory.Online condolences may be extended at www.caldwellfuneralchapel.com.
