Palatka, FL following a brief illness. James was born in DeKalb County, Tennessee on October 10, 1929 to Robert Lee and Annie Laura Maxwell.He was educated at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.He went on to work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and worked at several fish hatcheries around the country before arriving in Welaka to manage the Welaka National Fish Hatchery in 1972. He retired from his post in 1994 after 34 years of total service. A member of Welaka United Methodist Church for many years, Jim served on the board, as an usher, and also helped with church breakfasts and other activities. He enjoyed volunteering his time and talent, playing Rook, solving puzzles, and eating lots of ice cream. Rebecca "Becky" Lou Smith, age 89 of Murfreesboro, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Hoyt and Pearl Marlin Smith.Ms. Smith was a graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School, David Lipscomb University and Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. She held jobs at Ohio State University Library, David Lipscomb Library and Middle Tennessee State University Library. While at David Lipscomb, she substituted for librarians during the summer at WSU, Whitewater, WI, Seattle Public Library, San Diego Public Library and Ohio Valley College in WV.While living in Murfreesboro, she was an active member of the North Boulevard Church of Christ. While at MTSU library, 1969-1988, she served as Secretary of the Faculty Senate for two years and as President of the Middle Tennessee Library Association for two years.She is survived by her cousins, Charles B.
