Monday, November 21, 2016United States, according to Bloomberg magazine. In 2014, it settled a class-action lawsuit for about $80 million with 25,000 Jewish families with loved ones buried at Eden Memorial Park in Los Angeles. The plaintiffs alleged SCI employees broke open burial containers and caskets and discarded remains in a dump on the grounds of the cemetery to make room for more graves. The company settled similar allegations in 2003 in a separate lawsuit in Florida.“Due to the careless actions of Defendants, the body of Ms. Yost was desecrated,” the lawsuit states. “Despite her dying wish to have a closed-casket funeral, Ms. Yost’s body was instead put on display in a room full of strangers in an open-casket funeral and passed off by Defendants as someone else.
