Thomas is survived by his wife, Joyce Cooper Thomas, whom he married on May 26, 1962; two daughters, Shannon Parra and husband Jesse of Trenton, Tennessee, and Donna Kilpatrick and husband Allen of Brentwood, Tennessee; two sons, Donald Thomas Jr. and wife Ellen of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Andy Thomas and wife Mandy of Paris; one sister, Faye Cherry of Hazel; and his grandchildren, Eli Thomas, Mason Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Jacob Thomas, David Thomas, Robert Rayburn, Ryan Kilpatrick, Ereann Kilpatrick and Cameron Kilpatrick.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home of Paris, with Gerald Scott and Craig Peevyhouse officiating. After high school, he attended Murray State University and later Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where his basketball career included an appearance in the NCAA basketball tournament. Over the years, and following service in the Texas National Guard, he lived in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Nashville and Lexington, Tennessee; and Murray. A day later, the beaten body of her lifelong friend, 16-year-old Kayla Cuevas, was discovered in the wooded backyard of a nearby home. The teenagers had been inseparable and shared an interest in basketball.Days later, police discovered the skeletal remains of 19-year-old Oscar Acosta and 15-year-old Miguel Garcia-Moran in a remote industrial area of the town. Omni Manor Care Center at the age of 58. He was born November 21, 1958 in Youngstown the son of Angel Luis, Sr. and Juanita (Rivera) Zayas. He worked in the shipping and receiving department of Brentwood Manufacturing until his retirement in September of 2016. William attended Grace Fellowship Church in Niles. William enjoyed cars. He loved to work on them as well as attend car shows and swap meets. William leaves his mother, Juanita of Lordstown; two children, Jen Zayas of Niles and William Zayas, Jr. of Campbell; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan and Dominic and his siblings, Margaret (William) Alvarez of Warren, Jose (Lori) Zayas of North Jackson, Lydia Morales of Florida, Esther Zayas of Puerto Rico and Juan Zayas of Lordstown.
