Investigation took two yearsBy Stephanie SumellCaleb Burrett After a lengthy investigation, a former Camarillo resident was arrested at his Evergreen, Colo., home last week in connection with the death of a toddler in Camarillo two years ago.Caleb Burrett, 37, was arrested the morning of Oct. 3 on suspicion of child abuse causing great bodily injury or death to a child under the age of 8.Police said the major crimes bureau of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation after the 3½-year-old boy was severely injured in a home in the 100 block of Calle Vista in Camarillo on Sept. 2, 2014.Two days later, police said, the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital.The major crimes bureau continued its investigation in cooperation with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado, which served a search warrant at Burrett’s home in the rural mountain community 35 miles west of Denver.
