Joseph Shaffer of Wisconsin, Stephanie (Chase) Gilliland of St. Joseph, Derek Carter of St. Joseph, Taylor Broutin of Edwards and Cord (Cassie) Shaffer; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Cutler, Colton Uden, Camden Yette, Josiah and Canaan Shaffer.He was the oldest of 10 siblings of which four now survive, Ken (Fran) Carter, Sharon Brost, Lynda (Dale) Matejkowski and J.D. Carter.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Russell, Carroll Ray, Larry and Jerry; and one sister, Elnora.Frank worked as a building service worker at the University of Illinois and Kobelt Apartments. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in St. Joseph, where he served many years as a deacon. He also attended Weber Street Church of Christ.He was also a member and past commander of the St. Joseph American Legion. He belonged to the St. Joseph Senior Citizens.Frank enjoyed talking with others, watching the weather and spending time with family and friends.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, with David Barcus officiating. Entombment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Police are investigating the death of a University of Arkansas student after he fell from a window in an apartment complex early Friday, according to Sgt. Craig Stout, police spokesman.Brian Gray Colton, 26, fell from the fourth floor of The Cardinal at West Center, 813 W. Center St., Stout said. Colton was found dead on the sidewalk about 2:54 a.m. His body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy, Stout said.Stout said no foul play is suspected, but police believe alcohol was a factor in Colton's death. Evidence indicates Colton was trying to jump from the window to an adjacent balcony when he fell, according to a police news release.The investigation is ongoing.The Cardinal at West Center is a student housing complex across the street from campus.NW News on 02/18/2017

His memorial service was Thursday, May 25, at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation was held at the funeral home.Shane Michael Klay, son of Duane and Donna (Sammons) Klay, was born Feb. 25, 1971, in Luverne, Minn.Shane was united in marriage with Michelle Bradwisch on Nov. 9, 2001, in Sioux Falls.Shane was loved by all who were fortunate enough to be in his life. He was a loving son, father, husband, uncle and "Papa.” There was nothing Shane couldn't fix; he was a master of all trades. He loved gardening and playing with his grandchildren. He recently had undertaken the task of fixing up an old farmhouse he and his wife Michelle had purchased near Colton.
