Carli Lloyd and Karsta Lowe have been named to the U.S. Olympic women’s volleyball team for next month’s Games in Rio de Janeiro.Lloyd, a 5-foot-11 setter, played at Fallbrook High before attending Cal. She was the 2011 AVCA Player of the Year and was MVP of the 2015 Pan American Games as part of Team USA. She graduated from Cal with a degree in social welfare.The 6-foot-4 Lowe is a heavy-hitting opposite. She played at La Costa Canyon and graduated from UCLA with a degree in geography/environmental studies. She was a first-team All-American at UCLA and was the MVP of the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2015.The U.S. women, coached by Karch Kiraly, are ranked No. 1 in the world and open Olympic play Aug. 6 against Puerto Rico.Brazil, the two-time defending Olympic champion, is ranked No. 3 in the world. Home Air Force Base he met the love of his life, Donna Mae Yager, of Payette, Idaho. They were later married. When he retired from the U.S. Air Force, they moved to California where he worked for Fallbrook Water District running backhoe and pipe layer. He would also work as a mechanic. The family then settled back in Idaho. Carl helped his sons start their own company, Yager-Weber Construction in Jerome and was an integral part of their success.When Donna became ill he cut back on the construction work to take care of her saying ‘I would not trade her for a million bucks and will take care of her at our home.’ He would do anything for her and she received the best of care.Carl is survived by his children, Carl Yager and Sean Weber; and stepchildren, Robin (Michael) Phillips, Tina Gluch, Michael White, and Todd (Jennifer) White.
