Col. Samuel  M. Pierce, USA, Ret., age 87, a resident of Suffield Meadows in Warrenton, VA, passed away on March 19, 2017. He honorably served in the U.S. Army  for over 26 years  and retired as a Colonel.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy F. Pierce; four children; Cyndy Pierce Burnett and husband, Robert P.  of Rixeyville, VA, Kristin M. Beals and husband, William of Amissville, VA, Laura D. Pierce Nardo Kunst and husband, Lt. Col. Robert Emmet Reed, of West Suffield and Lincoln, New Hampshire, 62, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.Robert was born on June 28, 1954 in Bronx, NY. He attended All Hallows High School and received his Bachelors of Arts from St. Francis College, Biddeford, Maine. In 1982 Robert married Kathleen Williams, and together they had 3 sons, Robert Jr., Brendan and Declan. Robert was the president of Moosehead Harvesting Inc. Bob lived life in a very large way with his wife and boys. He leaves them all with the fondest of memories of times spent together and will be missed by all from the hills of Ireland, the slopes of Loon, the stands of Yankee stadium, the shores of Nantucket, and the pasture and home on the Farm with his ponies. Bob spent his life not only in the woods but in the hearts of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. However, his true passion was his family who will miss him dearly. John Derby Adams, 83, of Enfield, passed quietly on March 8, 2017 at Suffield By The River, Suffield, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. John was predeceased by the love of his life, Rita, with whom he was blessed to share 53 years of marriage. John was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Woodward and Rachel Adams on May 9, 1933. He graduated from Shady Side Academy in 1950, Yale University in 1954 and the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1959. Except for several years when he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut beginning in 1963, he was engaged in the private practice of law, first in solo practice and since 1983 partnered with his daughter at Adams & Eliason. John served as the Town Attorney for the Town of Enfield from 1967 to 1977, and in 1977 was appointed by Governor Ella Grasso as a Hearing Officer for the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. Mr. Royer Owned and Operated the Suffield Pharmacy for 21 years prior to his retirement from Stop & Shop Pharmacy in Enfield in 2004.In addition to his career, he took time to volunteer as a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and golfing. He also enjoyed gardening.
