"Ted" Holmes, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, in Vanderbilt University Medical Center.Ted was born June 6, 1940, in Herrin, to the late Edward Cornelius and Alice Lillian (Manning) Holmes. Ted was raised in Carterville, was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and a graduate of the National War College. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 33 years of service earning the rank of Colonel. Ted served in the Indiana National Guard and was a liaison recruiter to the Air Force Academy. Ted retired from Whirlpool after 30 years of service as a Computer Systems Analyst.He was a member of First Christian Church, Owls Nest 30, Riverbend Association, and the American Legion Funkhouser Post 8. Ted was a sports enthusiast and an avid Cardinals fan. He was an avid reader and loved studying World War II history.
