DECATUR -- Mr. Charles Harold Elliott age 86 of Palmyra passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Meadow View Health Care and Rehab.Mr. Elliott was born April 14, 1930 in Macon County, Illinois the son of Everett and Ethel Voyles Elliott. He was a retired employee of General Electric. He was a Korean War Army veteran and a Bronze Star recipient.Charles is survived by his wife: Margie A. Elliott. He is also survived by a son: Travis C. Elliott (Tamara Jo) of Campbellsburg, a daughter: Myra Kay Elliott Sharp of Decatur, Illinois, a brother: Carroll Elliott of LaPlace, Illinois, three grandchildren: Tamara Kay Day (Terry), Mariah Jo Applegate (Nicholas James), and Wade Levi Elliott, and 2 great-grandchildren: Faith Helen Day and Andrew Lewis Day.He was preceded in death by a brother: Lazarre Elliott, a sister: Maxine Burket, a grandson: Tice Sharp III and his parents.Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. His announcement cited his previous "hard-fought race" against Allen in 2007, as well as his affection for the district, which spans from Bordentown Township south to Palmyra and east to Mount Laurel and Moorestown."As I receive word of (Allen's) upcoming retirement, I would like to announce my interest in pursuing her seat as state senator of this great district, spanning all towns that I love, many running along the Delaware River, and other great towns to our east," Dennison said in a statement.During the 2007 race, Allen defeated Dennison by a close to 14 percent margin to retain her Senate seat.Dennison said he was proud of his 2007 effort."I think my team and I fared pretty well," he said. "Sen. Allen proved to be a very worthy adversary. Huntsville, Mo., failed to stop at the intersection of Routes J and W in Ralls County three miles east of Monroe City. Stansberry's vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Patty Fischer, 61, of Palmyra.According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Fischer's vehicle went airborne before striking Johnson's vehicle. Mary Johnson, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Herman Johnson, sustained serious injuries, as did Stansberry and Fischer.A fourth vehicle, driven by Kimberley Pool, 54, of Foley, Mo., was impacted by flying debris. The report does not indicate if Pool sustained injuries.The report indicates everyone involved was wearing safety devices. Ralls County Coroner Denise Goodwin pronounced Herman Johnson dead at 10:25 a.m. His body was taken to Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Monroe City Ambulance, Ralls County Sheriff's Department, Monroe City Fire Department and the Marion County Ambulance District.
