University at Carbondale in 1973 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering Technology.In the Southern Illinois area, Tom practiced civil engineering with firms Moldovan & Associates, Inc. and Watwood & Heavener, Inc.; ten years in Florida with Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. in Orlando, Florida, and AIM Engineering and Surveyors, Inc. in Ft. Myers, Florida. Moving to Dallas, Texas, he became a Vice President with Bridgefarmer & Associates. Tom loved roadway design and construction. He liked to see “Dirt at Work”. His 22 years as a Professional Engineer in Illinois, Florida, and Texas brought him much gratification. Tom was a Registered Land Surveyor in Illinois and Florida.Professional affiliations included The American Society of Civil Engineers and Illinois Professional Engineer Association. Tom’s contributions to civic organization included President of Lions Club, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and Elk Club.Tom was previous a member of Orlando First Baptist Church and Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, before becoming a member of Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell, Texas. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid quail hunter, golfer, fisherman and sporting clays enthusiast. He enjoyed watching Texas, Ranger baseball, Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR.Tom is survived by: the love of his life, A.B. Jacqueline “Jacky” Anna Laura Rupe Jones, 81, of Locust Grove, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her home at Lake of the Woods. Jacky was born April 13, 1935, in Atwood, Kansas to Schuyler C. and Viola S. Rupe of Atwood and Saint Francis, Kansas.Jacky’s lifelong interests included volunteer service to people and animal organizations, her church and world-wide travels.Jacky was married to her late husband of 59 years, USMC Colonel (Retired) Robert “Bob” William Germany Jones who passed February 21, 2015 and is buried in the Culpepper National Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Jones Jr. of Locust Grove, Virginia; her daughter, Janie Lea Dean, and husband Max, of Rural Retreat, Virginia.A private, family-only, memoriam will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery.
