Thursday September 1, 2016, at Bristol Hospital. She was the wife of the late Vincenzo Sastri.Mrs. Sastri was born May 3, 1920, in Lentini, Sicily a daughter of the late Alfio and Paola Urrta. She had worked as a seamstress at the Vendo Company in New Britain for 10 years, but mostly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with her family. Mrs. Sastri was a longtime Communicant of St. Ann Church in New Britain where she was an active member of many of the church’s organizations.She leaves her sons, Salvatore Sastri of Bristol and Alfredo and Paul Sastri both of Plainville, her daughter, Vincenza Sparagna of Rocky Hill, two sisters in Italy, 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.Funeral services for Mrs. Sastri will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Saint Ann Church 47 Clark Street in New Britain for a Mass of Christion Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at Saint Mary Cemetery in New Britain. Pavia, south of Milan, and became a model.It was beside a catwalk in Venice that she met Count Marzotto. They married in 1954 and had five children. She is survived by four of them, Paola, Vittorio, Maria Diamante and Matteo, who is a former chairman of the Valentino label and now the president of the trade fair organization Fiera di Vicenza.A daughter, Annalisa, died of cystic fibrosis in her 30s. Ms. Marzotto helped found a charitable foundation to fight the disease.Recounting her life, Ms. Marzotto wrote, “It is to the war and the bombs that I owe my thirst for life and cheerfulness, my courage, the desire to fulfill my dreams, to look for them everywhere, to chase them even afar, to travel the world, to possess it.”Correction: August 2, 2016Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this obituary misstated the occupation of Ms. Marzotto’s mother. She was a signalwoman on a toll road and worked in the textile industry; she did not work in the rice fields.

She is survived by husband, Arnaldo; children, Max (Earlyn), Paola (Eddie), Patrizia and Aimee (Julian); nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sister, Bernardina; brother, Enea and many relatives and friends.
