Funeral services celebrating the life of Nicholas Haile Bernard will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of New Iberia. Rev. Scott Bullock will officiate. Nicholas will be laid to rest alongside his grandparents in Forest Park East Cemetery in Houston on Saturday, April 29, 2017.A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at which time a procession will depart for church.Nicholas Haile Bernard was born August 18, 1982, in New Iberia to Dr. Douglas Allen Bernard and Betty Haile Bernard and was one of five children. He passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his residence at the age of 34.Nicholas was a 2000 graduate of Catholic High School in New Iberia, and was a true Louisiana outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was being a father to his children. He will be missed dearly. He was a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1970-1976 as an infantryman. He was employed with National Supermarket for 23 years and then Super 1 Foods for 20 years.
