SHREVEPORT, La -Bill Hanna, the businessman who became Shreveport's first mayor under the city's council form of government, died Saturday. He was 86.Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street. Visitation is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rose-Neath.Hanna and his brother, Ken, ran Bill Hanna Ford when he was elected Shreveport mayor in 1978. He had never held public office before and did not seek a second term.Later, he became Caddo Parish administrator.Hanna was the city's first mayor under a new form of government at the time: a mayor and seven City Council members elected from districts around the city. Prior to that, the legislative branch of city government had been commissioners such as public safety, public works and finance. Those individuals were elected city wide.

SHREVEPORT-- - Annie Carter says losing her grandbaby to gun violence was the worst day of her life."Knocked on the door and shot my grandson down," says Annie Carter, Grandmother of Victim.Her grandson, 21-year-old Tellmell Lyons, Jr. was shot and killed on January 12-th in the doorway of his home."He was murdered, gunned down by someone that was supposed to be a friend that they had taken into their home, fed, done everything that they could," says Carter.Shreveport police have arrested Arriaus Taylor for second degree murder."It was one of the most horrifying things because Tellmell was such a nice kid. He didn't get in trouble, sell drugs, or nothing. He was polite. He was a gentleman," says Carter.Now Carter and family members seek help to bury Lyons.An expense they simply can't pay."Six thousand dollars to us is like six million. I'm disabled and if I had it I would give anything to be able to take care of my baby. I can't rest at night knowing my baby's not laid to rest, not kno...
