Roger F. Sites, 93, of Fall River, formerly of Brockton, died after a long illness. He was a resident of the Crawford Nursing Home and formerly lived in the Montello section of Brockton for his entire life.Born Feb. 9, 1924, he was the son of John George Sites and Katherine Daley Sites. He was a graduate of the 1942 class of Brockton High School and served for many years on the reunion committee for his class.A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served in the European Theater during World War II and was present during D-Day, though he kept his memories of that experience to himself throughout his life. He firmly believed in the adage that the honor of any job came from the doing of the job, not from any praise lavished upon one after the job was done.He attended Boston University and Bentley College and worked at the former Columbia Packing Company in Boston. When it ceased operations, he worked as the bookkeeper/accountant at the Brockton Redevelopment Authority until his retirement in 1984.He wa...

Ms. Judith Arlene Taylor, age 74 years, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, MO.She was born on October 27, 1942 in Fall River, MA, a daughter of William and Elsie (Towers) Aspin.Judy grew up in Rhode Island and was a 1960 graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River, MA. Shortly thereafter, Judy married Bob Brunson, and three daughters were born unto that union. She was the office manager for Zip Beverage in Missoula, MT for 22 years. When Judy relocated to Missouri, she worked for Florsheim Shoes until their closing in 2002. She returned to the work force and finished out her career by dedicating five years to the Department of Revenue for the State of Missouri. She then dedicated many summers to floating in her pool.As a strong, independent woman, she led by example and worked with men as equals—no easy feat for a woman of the 70s. Known by her family as Gram, she was a kick in the pants. Gram was very involved with the East Missoula Volunteer Fire Department; she served as secretary and was among the department’s first inaugural women firefighters. Police: Driver dies after crashing car during pursuit - Boston Herald

The Seekonk Police Department announced Monday that Tony Ramos of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, died after the Friday night crash on Fall River Avenue. Police say Ramos did not stop when officers tried to pull him over for a motor vehicle violation and that he crashed soon after. Ramos was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.The crash is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Sweeney of Fall River; her siblings, Linda Neveux of Swansea, Harry J. Polito of Rockland, Billy Polito of Dade City, FL, Clarence “Muzzy” Walker of Lakeville, Alison M. Walker and Helen L. Walker both of Middleboro and George Walker of Silver Spring, NC. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, the late Elsie Marie Sweeney and Joseph Patrick Sweeney.Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy on Tues., Nov. 8, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Church began in Smithwick, moved to Maverick Junction in late 1960sHOT SPRINGS - St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, located just west of Maverick Junction, at the falls of Fall River, will celebrate its official 120th anniversary Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28.The church has two events planned to mark this celebration:•Saturday, Aug. 27 – The church will host a 4 p.m. program and banquet – meal of chicken cordon bleu, or roast beef at 5:30 p.m. – being held at the Mueller Center.
