George P. Concordia and his wife Margaret Cahill of Arlington Heights, IL, Fr. Stephen Concordia, O.S.B., of Latrobe, PA, Patricia Concordia and her husband Winston Lloyd of Hyde Park, John P. Concordia and his wife Joanne Atkinson of Westwood, Ann O’Connor and her husband Sean, of Mashpee, Mary Quinn and her husband David, of Pawtucket RI, and Joan O’Brien and her husband John of Worcester. John is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Padraic O’Connor, Caitlin Riley and her husband J. Patrick, Kevin Concordia and his wife Lisa, Brian Concordia and his wife Leslie, Alexander Concordia, Justin Lloyd, Garrett Lloyd, Simon Quinn, and Colleen Quinn; and his three great grandchildren, Finn, Olivia, and Connor; a brother, Joseph Concordia and his wife Theresa of Narragansett, RI. John was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph Concordia, Francis Concordia, and Fr. George Concordia, OP. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Concordia’s family on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 3-7 pm in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St. Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 am in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Shrewsbury. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. An elderly couple from New Hyde Park were married for 70 long years but died Monday within hours of each other.Ruth Bauer was 92 and William Bauer was 97.The longtime couple met while working together at a bank in the 1940s and married in 1946 when Bill returned from World War II after serving in the Navy, according to the Associated Press.Visitation will be held Thursday at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes Inc., located at 125 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m.Funeral service will be held Friday at Notre Dame R.C. Church, located at 45 Mayflower Road in New Hyde Park, at 9:15 a.m.The couple will be buried at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.Obituary:Ruth and Bill are survived by their children Charles (Barbara), Marie (the late Al) and Thomas (Jenifer), and their grandchildren Jill, Adam, Christopher, Patrick and Daniel. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 725 S. 250 E. in Hyde Park.Once nicknamed “the valley’s historical conscience,” Kindred played an instrumental role in many projects aimed at preserving Cache County’s heritage, and he loved the small-town atmosphere of Hyrum City. The recipient of the 2003 Cache Valley History Award, Kindred spearheaded the restoration of Hyrum’s Elite Hall, petitioned to preserve the city’s pioneer cabins on Main Street and was involved with the development of Salt Hollow Park. A WWII Navy veteran, he was also an antiques aficionado, and his home was filled with books, artifacts and memorabilia. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing stories and memories with his friends.“Ted had a lot of knowledge in a lot of different areas and he had quite a collection of everything, really,” said Shane Zilles, who knew Kindred well. “To me, Ted was a happy guy who wanted to preserve families and genealogy. He was so concerned about preserving information. He loved to make history known to people, but he also wanted to make it last.”Zilles, a former deputy with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, lives in College Ward and became acquainted with Kindred when he answered a medical call at the elderly gentleman’s home three years ago.
