Lowell funeral home places obituary to honor 129 dead in Paris - Lowell Sun

Monday, June 19, 2017

LOWELL -- The names of the recently deceased appeared above their obituaries on page 12 of Sunday's edition of The Sun, along with a single headline that didn't contain a name. "Paris," the headline simply stated. The obituary contained below was for at least 129 adults and children slain in a series of terror attacks in the City of Lights on Friday night. At least 350 others were injured. The obituary was written, submitted and paid for by the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, which spent about $400 to honor those lost in France. "We serve a lot of families with French heritage," Funeral Director Ron D'Amato said. "But also, this story affected everyone, so we said, 'We need to do something to honor and remember the victims and their families.'" D'Amato said the funeral home initially posted the obituary on its Facebook page and elsewhere on social media, but decided to pay for an obituary in print in The Sun because many people they serve don't use social media. "We remind...

Ingram remembered as loving grandfather, hard worker - Effingham Daily News

Saturday, June 10, 2017

ALMA — Kevin Diss struggled to understand the loss of his friend and business partner, Lowell Ingram, in a tragic accident that happened while working on a semitrailer Tuesday at Pinnacle Foods in Effingham.“We started this joint venture a couple years ago,” said Diss of Diss Truck and Repair of Alma. “We built it from nothing.”Diss said Ingram, 59, of Alma sustained fatal injuries after the trailer they were working on together collapsed, pinning Ingram beneath.“I was underneath the trailer with him repairing a dolly leg,” said Diss. “We were down to the last bolt when I saw the trailer start to sway. The good dolly leg folded under.”He said they were working with two 20-ton jacks and a portable dolly leg to make sure the trailer had plenty of support, but somehow things went wrong.“We've done this 100 times,” said Diss. “It's something we do on a regular basis.”Diss described Ingram as a hard worker who couldn't say “no” to anyone. He worked seven days a week and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix.“He was the mechanic,” said Diss. “He did all the major work. He was...
