Monday, March 13, 2017David of Maynard, Tommy and his wife Aletha of Maynard, Sharon Torcasio and her husband Pasquale of Newton, Valerie Wastcoat and her husband John of Newton, and Teddy and his wife Sara of Natick. Loving grandfather to: Lindsay and Paige Dalicandro, Nicole and David Jones, Liz, Abbie, and Matt Dalicandro, Rebecca, Joey and Freddy Torcasio, Nikolas, Noah, and Johnny Wastcoat, TJ, Olivia, and Emma Dalicandro. Also survived by his loving sister Joannne Gorbey and her husband Jimmy of Vermont, his dear cousin Jean Caloggero of Watertown, his uncle Lou Saia of Florida, and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Freddy graduated from Newton High School in 1961 where he was a three-sport varsity athlete. In recognition of his athletic skills and personal character he received the Dickinson Award at graduation, and in 2014 he was inducted into the NHS Hall of Fame. Fred’s commitment to young people and his appreciation for the value of sports were evident in the time he gave to coaching and managing youth sports programs. Through sheer hard work and personal sacrifice, Fred established Newton’s Pop Warner Program more than 50 years ago fulfilling his vision of providing Newton’s youth the opportunity to play football in a Pop Warner Program. Funeral from the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Rt. 16, Newton, Saturday, March 11, at 9:00am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00am.
Monday, December 12, 2016NATICK, MA — Connor James Heffler, age 11, died at home on Friday evening with his family all around him. He had battled cancer for 20 months. He and his twin, Evin McGee Heffler, were born in Boston, the sons of Steven F. and Elizabeth (Rozon) Heffler. The family also includes the twins’ older and often wiser brother, Ryan Steven Heffler. Connor had a robust and endlessly positive personality that served him greatly in meeting his cancer head on, not allowing it to impinge on his outlook at all. He easily and readily made friends, whether peers, teachers, medical personnel, sports figures, none could escape the special quality that was Connor’s gift. Outgoing - yes, a chatterbox - definitely, a good guy to know – always. Connor had been educated at Ben-Hem and was currently a 6th grade student at Wilson Middle School. He loved hockey, was a tremendous Bruins fan and played with the Natick Comets when he was able. He enjoyed playing lacrosse and pretty much spent the whole summer swimm...
Monday, October 03, 2016He leaves Breda, his wife of sixty-two years, and four children – Charles of Portland, Maine, Kevin (Meg) of Bentleyville, Ohio, Patricia of New York City, and Terrence (Heidi) of Natick, Massachusetts and seven grandchildren; Kevin, Kathleen, Ryan, Amanda, Victoria, Olivia and Alexander.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William Norchi.Family and friends may call Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with Rev. Thomas J. McCarthy officiating.Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Mercy Health Charitable Foundation.Arrangements are being handled by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd.
