Lake also served as a special officer on the Wareham Police Department, picked cranberries for local growers during the harvest and raised greyhound racing dogs.He was a life member of the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks #73, a member of the Cromesset Tribe of Red Men #156, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1308 in Venice, Florida where he wintered for 18 years. Mr. Lake also served as an executive board member for United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local #328, Providence, Rhode Island.Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Akins and her partner John Thatcher, Jr. and his son, David Lake and his wife Joanne Savastano all of Wareham and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late James Lake, Elmer Lake and Edgar Lake and his sister, the late Phyllis Mustakangas.His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Wareham. Reed, Sr. and Helen R. (Kennedy) Reed, Helen was a lifelong South End resident. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church in New Bedford.Helen was a real estate agent for many years, most recently for Pelletier Realty where she had been honored as a member of their "Million Dollar Club." She was also honored as "Salesperson of the Year" by Suzette & Associates. Prior to that she owned and operated her own consignment shop and was a flight attendant for Northeast Airlines. She volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital and in her leisure time, enjoyed golfing, trips to the casino's and spending time with her Schnauzers Max and Jack.She is survived by her former husband and devoted friend, Arthur C.
