Robinson, who had critical head injuries, was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, “where she succumbed to her injuries,” Kelley said.Beckwith was not seriously injured in the crash, which occurred as heavy snow was falling. Kelley said accident reconstruction teams have not yet determined the cause of the crash, or whether the falling snow and slippery conditions played a role.Robinson was married and had three children under the age of 5, said her stepfather, realtor Chuck Braxton of Meredith. During that time, local and state police conducted the reconstruction of the crash. The busy bypass was the scene of a fatal crash last Thursday at a point where the road passes through Laconia. Kim Hasty: Mother shows strength at close of difficult year - Fayetteville Observer

Monday, December 26, 2016

Dec. 16, when he and best friend Cameron Booher were killed in an accident off Butler Nursery Road.Booher, 19, was driving a 2002 Acura when, according to a N.C. Highway Patrol report, he crossed the center line twice before striking a utility pole. The boys' death was the most crippling blow in a year in which Angela Roy has undergone chemotherapy for thyroid cancer, mourned the death of her fiance in June and learned that her mother, Dorothy Colvin, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer."Nick was my supporter,'' she said. "He always said, 'Mom, it'll be all right.' He was a young man, but he had an old man's soul.''And now she had to find a way to pay for a funeral.Throughout most of the day of the accident, Angela Roy felt something wasn't right."I had a sick feeling that I couldn't explain,'' she said. When her son hadn't arrived home from the bus stop by 4 p.m., she started making phone calls. First to the high school, then to the Board of Education. By then, Bus 201 already was back in the lot.As she was driving down the dirt road that leads to the home she shares with her mother, she saw a state trooper in her rearview mirror. Was she the mother of Nicholas Miles Roy?"Is he OK?'' she asked.Valerie Robinson is the person closest to Angela Roy."When I go through something, she goes through it, too,'' Roy said.It took a few moments for Robinson to understand her friend's choked words over the phone. But when she did, she was resolute."I'm on my way,'' said Robinson.Others have rallied around the families of both young men. Daniel and Doris Shaw of Manhattan Young Fashion on Hay Street donated Nick Roy's burial clothing. They also donated the clothing for other members of the family to wear to the funeral."When it was time to figure it up, the spirit led me to just give it all to them,'' Daniel Shaw sai...
