Gibbons, 84, of Bethany, died at 3:06 p.m. Thursday May 25, 2017 in her residence.Celebration of Life services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday May 30, 2017 in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Ted Hartley officiating. John “Chuck” Dolan, credited with helping to build what is now Gibbons P.C., died Wednesday. He was 86.“The phrase ‘larger than life’ is used to describe many during a time of grief, but no person is more befitting of this description than Mr. Dolan,” Patrick C. Dunican Jr., chairman and managing director of Gibbons P.C., said in a statement. “He was truly larger than life — a one-in-a-million figure who influenced generations of lawyers at our firm.“He was a gifted trial attorney who mentored many of us and who always provided the firm’s clients with the highest level of service. M Anna E. Carter, 89, passed away 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at her residence. Born in Jerseyville on October 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann (Fitzgibbons) Novotny. A graduate of Our Savior Hospital Nursing School in Jacksonville, she retired from the Olin Corporation after 40 years as Supervisor of Nurses. She was a certified occupational health nurse. Ann was a lifetime member of East Alton American Legion Post 794 Auxiliary and was a past president. She married Clyde Carter on November 25, 1962 in Brighton. He died in November 2003. She was sadly preceded in death by her only son, Thomas "Tom" Clyde Carter in March of 2011. Surviving are two grandchildren, Brett and Jacqueline Carter; daughter in law, Toni Carter; and three sisters, Katie, Lillian and Helen. A brother and three sisters also preceded in death. Private services were conducted at Marks Mortuary in Wood River by Fr. Donald Wolford, with burial in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. ...
