Missouri Power and Light (while living in Jefferson City and Moberly), Associated Electric (while living in Springfield), and Cargill (while living in Madison, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minnesota). Stan was a man of faith who attended church throughout his life and was a faithful supporter of Alabaster Ministries. Those around him were a witness to his constant nurturing love and faith.Stan had a deep love for his family and always cherished time with them. He was a very private and selfless person, but always took the time to get to know someone the best he could. He loved supporting his granddaughters by attending their softball games or dance recitals. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially to warm places to lounge on a beach or to watch college football bowl games. Though he loved traveling and seeing all the different cities, Stan enjoyed being in the outdoors; hunting, fishing or golfing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Mizzou Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. His sweet and simple demeanor that won the hearts of many as well as his unwavering faith in God will never be forgotten.Survivors include: one son, Aaron Newton (wife Lori) of Jefferson City, MO.; one daughter, Courtney Yake of Springfield, MO.; three granddaughters, Dakota Newton, Megan Newton, and Mia Yake; his parents, Gene and Maggie Newton of Jefferson City, MO.; one brother, Scott Newton of Jefferson City, MO.; one sister, Kathy Volkerding (husband Bob) of Jefferson City, MO.; his niece, Leslie Chiles (husband Dave); and three nephews, Brian Bloomer (wife Susan), Shannon Newton (wife Bree), and Kaleb Newton.Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017.Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Dennis died in 2006. Beth died March 29, 2016 at the age of 82.They took a secret with them to their graves.‘You have to come home’Shortly after Beth died, her daughter Kathy was driving to Minneapolis when she got a call from her brother, Rick. “He called me and said, ‘You have to come home.’ And I said, ‘Why do I have to come home?’” Kathy Odden told KOIN 6 News. “Thinking the worst was happening with him, I go home.”When she got there, Rick laid out some pictures for her to look at.“He said, ‘This is your 63-year-old sister that (our) parents gave up for adoption,’” she said. “I’m in shock and my mother had just died at the end of March and I was going, ‘Mom, you didn’t tell us.’”But as she looked at the pictures, she knew. “There was no doubt in my mind that she was my sister.”Gretchen Lewis was born in February 1953 and was adopted by a Portland attorney and his wife. I didn’t know.”She also learned her birth mother Beth — listed on her pre-adoption certificat...
