She graduated from Ault High School in 1962.In May 1963, she married Richard Sidwell and they began ranching in Carr, Colo., raising registered Hereford cattle and kids. During this time she became involved in the Hereford Association gaining lifelong friendships and memories. Richard and Kathy later divorced in 1979.Kathy was a very determined, hardworking and talented person. Her wish was to own a farm and country store. In 2000, she bought her farm south of Fromberg. She built the Country Merchantile store to sell her pumpkins, her famous angel food cakes and various other baked goods and craft items becoming known as the “Pumpkin Lady.”Kathy loved trips to the mountains, playing in the snow and spending time at Joe and Kandin’s ranch. Many hours were spent gathering pods for projects, berries for jam and helping Kandin with her bottle babies during calving.We will take Kathy on her final trip to her favorite mountains in Estes Park next summer to celebrate her life with family and friends.We are so thankful for the wonderful care and compassion of the Heritage Acres staff. Mickey NelsonHELENA -Long-time Lewis & Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson died Sunday night at Saint Peter’s Hospital in Helena.Nelson’s son Jay tells MTN that his 71-year old father passed away from complications with cancer.Nelson had been diagnosed with colon cancer early this year.Nelson says his father faithfully served as county coroner for 42 years.Jay says funeral arrangements are being handled by K & L Funeral Home of Whitehall. Nelson says a service will be scheduled at the Helena Cathedral.He’s survived by his wife, son, daughter and six grandkids.

He was born July 2, 1934, to Charles Henry and Mary Helen (Sterle) Chitwood in Leadville, where he grew up. They moved to Salina, Kan. and returned to Salida, Colo. before settling in Globeville, Colo. He moved to Kersey in 1974.Charles graduated from North High School in Denver in 1953 and completed his Eagle Scout in 1951.He married Mary Tomlinson on May 29, 1959, and they later divorced.
