Wayne E. Krueger, 85, of Kiel, died at home on Saturday, July 30, 2016.He was born on Jan. 26, 1931, son of the late Ernest and Edna (Engberg) Krueger.Wayne was a 1949 graduate of Wilmont High School and a graduate of Racine-Kenosha Rural School in 1951. In 1956, he was awarded a Bachelor of Education degree from Whitewater State College, and he received a Masters Degree from the University of Colorado in 1958.Wayne served in the U.S. Army for six years and was assigned to Japan during the Korean Conflict. After returning to the States, he was honorably discharged and later joined the Kiel VFW Post #6707 where he was a Life Member, serving as Adjutant for 18 years.Wayne started his career as a teacher in Bayside, Wisconsin, where he met the former Judith Lenz. They were married on Aug. 5, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran in the town of Liberty. Judith preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2001.From teaching, Wayne transitioned into school administration, and he served as principal of the Kiel Elementary School from 1965 until 1969.
