Mr. Stanley L. Newton, age 63 years, of Lawrence, Kansas, a former Jefferson City resident passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Orlando, FL.Stan was born February 23, 1954 in West Plains, MO. a son of Delbert Eugene “Gene” and Maggie Belle (Smith) Newton. He was married on March 3, 1972 in Springfield, MO. to Sara Strong and from this marriage his two children were born, Aaron and Courtney. Sara and he remained friends to this day. He was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School and had many lifelong friends through his class. Stan was employed in the energy sector his entire professional career, which spanned over 40 years. He was currently employed as a Senior Originator with Westar Energy, based out of Topeka, Kansas, but he traveled the country working with clients. Before his career with Westar, he had worked with Missouri Power and Light (while living in Jefferson City and Moberly), Associated Electric (while living in Springfield), and Cargill (while living in Madison, Wisconsin and Mi...
