Concordia and his wife Joanne Atkinson of Westwood, Ann O’Connor and her husband Sean, of Mashpee, Mary Quinn and her husband David, of Pawtucket RI, and Joan O’Brien and her husband John of Worcester. John is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Padraic O’Connor, Caitlin Riley and her husband J. Patrick, Kevin Concordia and his wife Lisa, Brian Concordia and his wife Leslie, Alexander Concordia, Justin Lloyd, Garrett Lloyd, Simon Quinn, and Colleen Quinn; and his three great grandchildren, Finn, Olivia, and Connor; a brother, Joseph Concordia and his wife Theresa of Narragansett, RI. John was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph Concordia, Francis Concordia, and Fr. George Concordia, OP. Frank Bennie Atkinson, Sr., passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at The Oaks Nursing Home in Burnet. He was born September 15, 1923 in Liberty Hill to Annie Lurlene Sherman Atkinson and Wager Frank Atkinson. Frank was the oldest of their 3 sons. Frank married Jacqueline Darnell Cox and together they had 4 children; Judy, Frank, Larry and Timothy. Frank began his service for his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II on August 9, 1943. He served as an armorer, aircraft. Frank held a rifle sharp shooter title and did most of his service in the Pacific area. He participated in supporting air raids on Japan from July 10, 1945 - Aug. 15, 1945. Corporal Atkinson received an honorable discharge on March 13, 1946; his pay rate at that time was $54.00 per month. Frank had a colorful career beginning at the young age of 14, when his first job, working with his father, was setting dynamite to bust up granite during the building of Buchanan Dam. Mary Estelle Richards, and for 62 years he remained her devoted and faithful husband until her death on April 2, 2012. They had two children, George Leroy DeMarr, Jr. and Phyllis Ann “Sissy” Atkinson, wife of Dennis Mark “Chubby” Atkinson. Five grandchildren survive him: George Calvin DeMarr, Cassie May DeMarr, Shelby Gwenn DeMarr, Robert Warren Atkinson, and William Leroy Atkinson; as well as three great-grandchildren. His brother, Paul C. DeMarr, and many nieces and nephews, also survive him. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Andrew DeMarr, and by four of his siblings: Olive Smith, Joy Pankake, Raymond E. DeMarr, and Charles J. DeMarr.Mr. DeMarr had many talents. He made his living as a tobacco and livestock farmer, a dump truck owner and driver, and a school bus driver. At the farm, he kept cattle, horses, pigs, and poultry, and he operated a mechanic’s shop, a saw mill, and a gravel pit. A ride in his carefully preserved Model T car is a cherished memory for many.His wide circle of friends and family will remember him as a jovial, honest, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth man.Visitation will be on Sunday, January 8, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home at Charlotte Hall. The Reverend Marvin Harris will hold the funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, with full military honors.Pallbearers will be George L. DeMarr, Jr., Dennis M. Atkinson, Robert W. Atkinson, William L. Atkinson, George C. Mary Estelle Richards, and for 62 years he remained her devoted and faithful husband until her death on April 2, 2012. They had two children, George Leroy DeMarr, Jr. and Phyllis Ann “Sissy” Atkinson, wife of Dennis Mark “Chubby” Atkinson. Five grandchildren survive him: George Calvin DeMarr, Cassie May DeMarr, Shelby Gwenn DeMarr, Robert Warren Atkinson, and William Leroy Atkinson; as well as three great-grandchildren. His brother, Paul C. DeMarr, and many nieces and nephews, also survive him. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Andrew DeMarr, and by four of his siblings: Olive Smith, Joy Pankake, Raymond E. DeMarr, and Charles J. DeMarr.Mr. DeMarr had many talents. He made his living as a tobacco and livestock farmer, a dump truck owner and driver, and a school bus driver. At the farm, he kept cattle, horses, pigs, and poultry, and he operated a mechanic’s shop, a saw mill, and a gravel pit. A ride in his carefully preserved Model T car is a cherished memory for many.His wide circle of friends and family will remember him as a jovial, honest, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth man.Visitation will be on Sunday, January 8, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home at Charlotte Hall. The Reverend Marvin Harris will hold the funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, with full military honors.Pallbearers will be George L. DeMarr, Jr., Dennis M. Atkinson, Robert W. Atkinson, William L. Atkinson, George C.
