West Point or St. Paul Lutheran Church-West Point, or a charity of the donor's choice.Viola passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Wisner Care Center.Viola Wagner was born on March 15, 1924 at Beemer, NE to August and Anna (Stark) Liibbe. In 1929, after her mother’s death, August and his four children moved to West Point and lived with Anna’s sisters, Caroline and Louise Stark. They served as foster mothers to the four children. Viola attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from West Point High School in 1941.Viola worked as a bookkeeper at Hill Hatchery, Ed Bauman Department Store, West Point Lumberyard and the True Value Store when it was added to the lumberyard. She was the head buyer at True Value and retired in 1986.On January 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Ed “Cagle” Wagner in Fremont, NE.Viola was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years, and served as the receiving Treasurer and on church council. She had served as president of the West Point Women’s Bowling Association, and served on the School Board of West Point Public Schools. She was president of the West Point Board of Education during the construction of West Point Jr.-Sr. High School. Viola enjoyed watching sports, especially ones that involved her children and grandchildren. This came from regularly attending baseball games with her father from the age of eight years old. Iona passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Wisner Care Center.Iona Ida Roth, nee Wascher, was born July 18, 1915 to Ernst and Bertha Wascher, nee Zipf, at Beemer, EN. She lived with her parents on a farm three miles south of Beemer during her childhood.Iona received her education both secular and religious at the Immanuel Lutheran School four miles south of Beemer and received her high school diploma after taking an extension course from LaSalle University in Chicago later in life.Rev. M. Leimer baptized and confirmed Iona in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Beemer. In this same church she was married to Ervin R. Roth by Rev. Carl Hellman on January 1, 1939.After their marriage they lived on a farm two and a half miles southwest of Bancroft and lived in the Bancroft vicinity until 1944, then moved to the Pender area and later purchased a farm eight miles north of Beemer in 1945.The Roths were members of Zion Lutheran Church at Bancroft and then at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Pender, where all of their children were confirmed. Iona was organist, Sunday School Teacher, and chairwoman of Ladies Aid.After moving to Omaha she joined Bethany Lutheran Church, their Library Guild, and served as treasurer and chairwoman. At present she held a membership at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Point and had been a member of L.W.M.L.She was a member of the Red Cross, held office of chairwoman and treasurer, volunteered at the hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels.Survivors include her children and their families-Daughter-Betty and Melvin Wilson of Wayne, NE and...

The day is coincidentally the 85th anniversary of his baptism in 1932 and the 60th anniversary of his proposal of marriage to Loha Ann Maurer in 1957. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 25th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
