Owen Fox, 61, of Cheyenne died Dec. 19 as the result of an accident.He was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Chadron, Neb., a son to Eldon and Katherine (Semroska) Fox. Owen graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison, Neb. He was a cowboy and spent his life ranching.He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids; enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. And he loved his horses.Survivors include his son, Robert (Margaret) Fox of Cheyenne; daughters, Amanda (Chad) Swift of Fort Collins, Colo., Kasey (Thomas) Smith of Carpenter and Shayla Fox of Denver; seven grandchildren; three brothers, JayDee Fox of Cheyenne, Emery Fox of Harrison, Neb., and Jim Fox of Ardmore, S.D.; and two sisters, Mary Folchert of Gunnison, Colo., and Barbara Bailey of Castle Rock, Colo.He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob Fox.Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Archer Complex, Building M, 3967 Archer Parkway, Cheyenne.Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. November 28, 1948 at West Point, NE to Leo and Margaret (Wiesen) Neesen. He attended St. Aloysius School through the 8th grade and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967. Bob attended Chadron State College, where he played baseball for four years. In November of 1968, he married Connie Ritzdorf.In May of 1970, Bob began employment with Stalp Gravel and continued working there until July of 2011.Bob enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and especially his grouse hunting trips to western Nebraska, fishing, gardening, and going on walks with his dogs. He had played for the West Point Bombers and was to be inducted into the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017. Bob loved his grandchildren and also watching baseball, football and Nebraska Volleyball on the television.Survivors include-His dog- DukeChildren and their families-Daughter-Lisa and Lynn Lehmann of Albion, NE and family Jenna and Landon Winfrey of Seward, NE Hallick Lehmann of Seward, NESon- Paul and Lori Neesen of Lincoln, NE and family Chelsey and Adam Wardyn of Lincoln, NE and son Logan Cheney Neesen of Lincoln, NEDaughter- Kelly Perchal of West Point, NE and daughter Shelby Perchal of West Point, NEBrothers- Jack and Nancy Neesen of Grand Island, FLRichard and Joanne Neesen of Manchester, NHRalph and Sheri Neesen of Neligh, NEValen and Sharon Neesen of West Point, NEBob was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother-Joseph.

Also during the early 1950s, Lutheran churches were started in Gordon and Chadron, Neb. St. John’s partnered with these churches. However, in 1956, St. Johns went solo, became a one-point parish, led by Pastor Eugene Tjirks. Tjirks and his family lived in VA housing in Hot Springs until a new, $16,000 parsonage – it cost the congregation half this, because volunteer labor built it – was completed.In 1962, St. Johns again split its minister with Our Savoir’s Lutheran Church in Hermosa, and became a member of the South Dakota Lutheran District, instead of the Nebraska and Colorado-based Central District.By 1966, however, says Ferguson, St. John’s was at a crossroads and needed to make some hard decisions.
