She was born on December 2, 1930 in Hickory Hill, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John Edward and Nevada S. (Thomas) Bollman.She is survived by her beloved children, Donna M. (the late Donald “Donnie”) Swope of Bedford, Pennsylvania, John E. (Patricia) Ruby of Austintown, Ohio, David D. (Elaine) Ruby of Canfild, Ohio, Geraldine “Gerrie” (James) Thomas, of Meridian, Mississippi, Edith A. (the late Kenneth, Sr.) Slusher of Lake Milton, Ohio, Dwayne I. “Buddy” (Connie) Ruby of Kingston, Ohio and Nevada “Liz” (the Robert K. Cleo Bartlett Hall and James Hall on Jan. 26, 1954, Deborah grew to be the best daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother anyone could have, her family said. Deborah previously lived at Pahrump, Nevada; Boise; and Baker City. She will be truly missed by all those who loved her, including her two shih tzu puppies that she adored. She was of the Christian faith. Deborah was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Michael Taylor; and her parents. Ernest James Pello, Sr passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017. He was 81. Ernie was born on August 16, 1935 at the family home on Long St. in Nevada City to Nichola M. Pello and Rose Mary (Gregori) Pello. Raised in a happy, loving environment, with five brothers and three sisters, life was full. Ernie attended Nevada City High School. After graduation in 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, spending most of the next three years in Korea. After coming home, he was employed by Pacific Telephone Co. from 1960 to 1994, sometimes in the Truckee/Tahoe area. Ernie was very active in sports, mostly football and baseball – baseball being his favorite. In 1946 he was 'bat boy' for the Athletics. Hewas on the Nevada City High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and played for numerous teams; including the Nuggets, the Miners, the Lumberjacks and the Yellow Jackets. He also coached little league. Air Force. In the Air Force he was stationed in Turkey during the Vietnam War and would fly in and out of Vietnam to work on the planes. He later was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada where he specialized in avionics. He even worked on the famous Thunderbirds planes.When he was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base he met the love of his life, Donna Mae Yager, of Payette, Idaho. They were later married. When he retired from the U.S. Air Force, they moved to California where he worked for Fallbrook Water District running backhoe and pipe layer. He would also work as a mechanic. The family then settled back in Idaho. Carl helped his sons start their own company, Yager-Weber Construction in Jerome and was an integral part of their success.When Donna became ill he cut back on the construction work to take care of her saying ‘I would not trade her for a million bucks and will take care of her at our home.’ He would do anything for her and she received the best of care.Carl is survived by his children, Carl Yager and Sean Weber; and stepchildren, Robin (Michael) Phillips, Tina Gluch, Michael White, and Todd (Jennifer) White. Leal PortisLeal Marilyn Portis, of Nevada City, California and previously of Sacramento, California, passed away on March 24, 2017. She was 83.Leal was born in San Francisco, California on May 15, 1933. She attended Piedmont High School and went on to Mills College, both in Oakland, California, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy. She initially worked as a social worker for Butte County, where she met her future husband, Lloyd. They married and moved to Sacramento, where they lived for a number of years, and she became a stay at home mom, raising two daughters and teaching piano. She later renewed her OT license and went to work for UC Davis Medical Center Psychiatric Unit, and worked there until she retired in 1980. Over the years, she volunteered her service for multiple organizations, including but not limited to Grandmothers for Peace, Lions Club International, Hospitality House, Interfaith Food Ministry, League of Women Voters, local PTAs, among others. Ting Chen Yuan Ray, 90, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, at her home in Nevada. Ting Chen Yuan was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Guizhou, China.Ting Chen Yuan was raised by her mother, Zheng Shi, in China. She moved to Taiwan in 1949 with her husband Tai Tong Yuan and two sons. In Taiwan, another son and three daughters were born and lived on the island until 1982 when she moved to Los Angeles, Calif. In 1988 she came to Nevada and has continued to reside here.
