Clementon NJ Obituaries and Death Notices
Monday, February 20, 2017Wildwood, NJ, passed away from cancer at home on Sunday Feb 12, 2017. Ralph was born in Camden, NJ to Ralph L. Schaffer Sr. and Dorothy L. Schmutz (nee Stettnisch) on Oct 3, 1943 and raised in Clementon, NJ. He served his country as a member of the Air Force in the 60's, before eventually finding the love of his life at the Greentop Inn in 1963. Ralph moved his family to Wildwood in 1967 where he has remained a staple of the community. Ralph worked for Buck's Electrical Service for almost 50 years, many of which were served as owner/president. He also owned two local businesses during the 80s/90s, Schaffer's Variety and Schaffer's Discount stores. Ralph was an avid sportsman and athlete. He was a local legend at softball, traveled across the country to tournament bowl, and could take your money at any bar or card game you name. Later in life, he loved fishing the most, especially with his family in Marathon, FL. Ralph worked hard (too many hours) his whole life and generously gave back to his community in many ways (Rotary Club, Elks, ASA Umpire, local Oktoberfest, etc). Ralph was known by many as "Buda", a man who kept his word no matter what, a self-educated man, a fierce competitor and friend, a bull, a teddy bear, a leader, a person you could always come to for help, a man who professed the 6 "P's", our Patriarch, and most of all a selfless and dedicated family man. Ralph is survived...
