Mr. Dennis M. Mobrice, age 70 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Villa Marie Nursing Center after a year long battle with kidney and ureter cancer surrounded by family and his beloved wife Judy.He was born July 18, 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island the son of Joseph D. and Mathilda (Moreau) Mobrice. He was married on September 28, 1991 in Rocheport, Mo. to Judith L. Patterson. They celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary in September, 2016 with a return visit to the winery at Rocheport where the wedding was held.Dennis was a 1964 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas in 1970 with a degree in journalism.He studied further at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia and then worked as a general assignment reporter for the Jefferson City News-Tribune in the early 1970s. Frank Laine Jr., age 77 of Lebanon died May 18, 2017 at Summit Medical Center. A native of Wilson County he was the son of the late Frank Laine Sr. and Laura Hastings Laine. He was a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Cumberland University. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from IBM with thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge # 98 F & AM and The Knights Templar.He was preceded in death by a wife, Coyalene McPeak Laine; five sisters: Iva Dell McMinn, Frances VanHook, Dorothy Locke, Martha Bell, Linda Yarbrough; two brothers: Ralph and David Laine. Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado, authorities said Monday.Logan Goodwin was injured Saturday afternoon while skiing in the trees near upper Springmeier, a beginner run on Peak 8, Summit County sheriff’s spokeswoman Erin Opsahl said.He was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Aurora. James August (Jimmy) Morland, 69, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, March 26, after a lengthy illness.Jimmy was born in Jefferson City on September 1, 1947, to Virginia Darlene (Ousley) Morland and James Bedford (JB) Morland, both deceased.On June 16, 1996, he was married to Judy (Baumbach) Morland, who survives.A lifelong resident of the mid-Missouri area, Jimmy attended New Bloomfield schools. He joined the Navy in 1963 and “celebrated” his 17th birthday in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked in the construction field for his father, and others. He owned the Silver Dollar Saloon, worked at the Missouri State Penitentiary, owned Show Me Used Cars, co-owned Judy’s Cafe with his wife, and for the last 10 years transported traveler trailers from Indiana to dealers throughout the country. He also played in various bands with JD Wyatt and others, and then became the leader of The Southern Knights Band for many years.
