Bart S. Ward, 56, of Country Pointe Lane, Hudson and formerly of Broadalbin, died at home on Saturday, August 27, 2016.He was born in Gloversville on January 13, 1960, a son of William and Beverly Garrett Ward and was a 1978 graduate of Broadalbin High School. Bart enlisted in the Marines in 1980 and was stationed in El Toro, CA. While there, he started his career as a bouncer at Dick Dale's Rendezvous Nightclub, where he met his wife, Marjorie. They married a year later and Bart was discharged in 1983. He was employed with the Righteous Brothers at their nightclub, The Hop. Bart and Marjorie returned to Broadalbin in 1987 and he was employed at the former Tryon Residential Center. His children, Robert and Kayleigh, were born in 1989 and 1991, and he was in absolute awe of them. Bart volunteered at school when he could and coached youth basketball.Bart also loved animals. He had a special affection for dogs, but tolerated cats because the rest of the family loved them; that was Bart's nature, to go with the flow.He loved the New York Giants, football season, and watching the games with his family. Cynthia; and two brothers, Alvah and Dennis.Survivors include his wife, Diane Beatty Ferguson, whom he married on May 19, 1964; two sons, Jeffrey (Sherri) Ferguson of Gloversville and Duane Ferguson of Broadalbin; a daughter, Shari Ferguson of Crestview, FL; two brothers, Larry (Marion) Ferguson of Edinburg and John Ferguson of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Sharon (Willard) Loveless of Northville and Kimberly (John) Dalton of Greensburg, PA; three grandchildren, Rhea-Annea Ferguson, and Tanner and Braeden Veale; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with the Rev. Jerry Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Hagaman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northampton United Methodist Church, the Ecumenical Food Pantry, or to the Broadalbin VFW, all in care of the funeral home.
