Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.Maxine Kathryn Lewandowski was born May 8, 1936, to Ed and Anna (Zulkoski) Spotanski at Loup City. She attended Loup City Public School. Maxine was united in marriage to Don Lewandowski on Aug. 17, 1957, at Loup City. They moved to Phillips, where Don worked as a hired hand for Hinzeman, and later moved to Aurora, where Don was employed by Kansas Nebraska Gas Company. They then moved to Giltner, where Don was employed by Pioneer Hybrids. Maxine was employed by the Midtown Holiday Inn. She also ran a day care in her home and was a wedding coordinator as well as Don’s right-hand lady on the farm. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Giltner.Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Don Lewandowski; sons, Tom Lewandowski and Rex (Amy) Lewandowski; her daughter, Joyce (Larry) Klein; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and sisters Adeline (Archie) Dzingle and Louise (Vern) Vodehnal. Marilyn E. Houghton, 70, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis surrounded by her family. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Curran Funeral Chapel.
