Mrs. Barbara J. Tebbs, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, June 19, 2017 at her home.Barbara was born July 6, 1934 in Mexico, Mo. the daughter of Joe S. and Merle L. Ross Staples. She was married on February 18, 1956 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Jack L. Tebbs who preceded her in death on June 21, 1997.A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Mexico High School, Mexico, Mo.Barbara was employed in the Food Service Dept. of the Jefferson City Public Schools from September, 1970 until her retirement in April, 1993. Previously, she had been employed with the Missouri Dept. of Education and the Missouri Division of Employment Security.She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for children for over twenty years. Colorado, he continued work in the auto repair business with his father at Paddock Auto Repair.During his growing-up years, he traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with his parents. He was a life-long history buff, loving to stop at all the historic monuments and road signs. He always had a love for cars. He raced at Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne and became a crewmember at Colorado National Speedway in Erie. Stan was a great father and grandfather. Navy family. His father died when he was six and his mother moved the family to Coronado, Calif., where he grew up. It was here he developed his lifelong love for surfing. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute for high school where he played football and basketball. He earned a full scholarship to Cornell University where he played lacrosse and developed his passion for the “Big Red” lacrosse team. After graduating with a degree in anthropology, he joined the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and shipped off to Korea. After returning, he went to work for Sperry Rand Univac in New York City, beginning a career in the computer industry. While there, he also married Jane Kiely on May 4, 1957. In 1958, they moved to Berkeley where he earned an MBA in Operations Research from UC Berkeley and they also had the first of their six children. Upon graduating, they moved to Hinsdale, Ill., where he worked for Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche). After two years, they returned to California so that he could go to work for North American Aviation. They took up residence in Malibu. In the early 1970s, he and his business partner acquired Performance Development Corporation.
