SYRACUSE, NY - Services are set for Rasheed "Sheed" Baker, 21, who was killed late Monday night in Syracuse.The 2014 Jamesville-DeWitt graduate was shot shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Barnes Avenue. He was rushed to the hospital, but later died.Dozens of friends and family members took to social media to express their grief over Baker's death. Baker had been named to both the All Central New York Football Team and thesecond team All-State for football, according to Syracuse.com The Post-Standard's archives.A "Celebration of Life" is set for noon Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church, 149 Beattie St. in Syracuse. Charles P. and Anna M. (Hammill) Collins. She was raised and educated locally graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy in Brasher Falls. She furthered her education at Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, graduating in 1954.For over 30 years Kathleen was a secretary for Alcoa in Massena. After retirement, in 1987 she became Brasher Town Clerk, serving her community for 10 years. She was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club and the Retired Town Clerks Association.Always up for an adventure and never one for slowing down, after her second retirement Katie continued to help others and serve her community. She volunteered for and was active in numerous organizations in the area. She was a member of the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, Tri- Town Senior Citizens, Brasher Falls K of C Auxiliary, American Legion Post #514 Auxiliary, Norfolk Fort Nightly Club, Red Hat Classy Lassys of Brasher Falls, and a supporter of the Democratic Committee.Faith was a cornerstone in Kathleen’s life. While raising their children, they owned and operated a home improvement business and later, Cape Cod Archery.Doris will be remembered for her homemaking skills, especially her Christmas cookies, porcelain dolls, dollhouses, and needle work of many types. Neil Richardson (professor of Archeology, Hebrew and Old Testament at Boston University School of Theology). She leaves to mourn her mother Faith Richardson of Newton, her twin Marla of Newton and her older sister Joan Wrenn of Hayward, CA. She is a graduate of the Boston Cooking School. Her work included being a dessert chef for Emerson Hospital and a salesperson for Avon products. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Newton in Newtonville, MA where she sang in the choir. Marsha was known for having a very sensitive and caring spirit.
