Gaughan, 90, a long-time resident of Morris passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2017, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.She was a member of the Sgt. Elbert N. Patten Auxiliary VFW Post 1206 in Oneonta.Margaret was born the daughter of Bert G. Butler and Dora (Schulz) Butler on Sept. 3, 1926, in Davenport.Margaret married Donald Gaughan on June 12, 1948, in Gilbertsville. She lived in Morris where she was a homemaker.Margaret is survived by her loving family; two daughters Susan (Ronald) Rowe, Mary (Robert) Myers and son-in-law James Browning; grandchildren Geri Lee (Kevin) Rodda, Gwendolyn Browning (Butch Faulkner), Donald Rowe (Michelle Nolan), Jesse and Michael Myers; great grandchildren Alexandria, Tim Jr., and Matthew Grow, Justin and Joe Rodda; her sister Betty Goodspeed; sisters in law Dorothea Knickerbocker, Lorena Steward, Evelyn Butler, Annie Butler and several nieces and nephews.Margaret was predeceased by her husband Donald; her daughter Donna Browning; her five brothers Louis, Ralph, Earl, Donald, and Richard Butler and her sister in law Lorena Bowers.Calling hours are 2-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Johns...

Monday, August 29, 2016Wisconsin.Michael served as Finance Director for the City of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., Business Director for the Madison Metropolitan YMCA, and City Treasurer/Finance Director for the City of New Berlin, Wis. He retired from the City of New Berlin in 2009.Throughout his life Mike was involved in community activities and committed to a healthy lifestyle. He enjoyed golfing, running, biking, cross country skiing, and reading. Mike was a sports fan, a UW football season ticket holder for many years, and a charter season ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He remained a Tampa Bay Bucs fan until his death.Mike enjoyed Irish music and culture and was thrilled to twice visit Ireland. He liked to travel and enjoyed visiting most states in the United States, as well as several other European visits to France, Austria, Germany, and Czech Republic.Michael served as Finance Committee Chairman, Portage Methodist Church, Portage; Treasurer, Portage Music Boosters, Portage; and on the Board of Directors for Group Health Insurance, Madison. He was active in and served two terms as President of the Wisconsin Municipal Treasurers Association. He was also a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, New Berlin Lions Club, and New Berlin Golf League.Michael is survived by his wife, Connie Holzinger of Reedsburg, Wis.; daughter, Jamie Holzinger of Prairie du Sac; a sister, Judith (Joseph) Nelson of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Gerald) Jessop of La Valle, Patsy (William) Voltura of Elkhart, and Susan (Gregory) Sexton of West St. Paul, Minn.; and brothers-in-law, Mark (Judy) Wanless of Edgerton, Paul (Sarah) Wanless of Decorah, Iowa, and Eric Wanless of Reedsburg. Monday, August 22, 2016Dachau and later worked as a union carpenter in Oneonta before his retirement, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2016, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.The son of William and Delilah (Joy) Gaughan, he was born on Dec. 31, 1924, in Oneonta.During WWII, he first landed in Africa and then traveled to Anzio, Italy. He was in the landing of the beachhead of Southern France and then to the Siegfried Line. He then help liberate prisoners in Dachau in Munich. His heroic actions were awarded by a number of medals and the title of staff sergeant.He was a member and, for many years, commander of Sgt. Elbert N Patten VFW Post 1206 in Oneonta. He was also a member of the American Legion in Morris, where he lived for many years.He is survived by his loving family; his wife Margaret; two daughters, Susan (Ronald) Rowe, Mary (Robert) Myers and son-in-law James Browning; grandchildren Geri Lee (Kevin) Rodda, Gwendolyn Browning (Butch Faulkner), Donald Rowe, Jesse and Michael Myers; great grandchildren Alexandria, Tim Jr., and Matthew Grow, Justin and Joe Rodda; two sisters Dorothea Knickerbocker and Loretta Steward.
