FELTON, Del. — Margaret E. Keeney Hann Main, 93, of Felton, Del., and formerly of Union Bridge, Md., died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Seaford Center, following a lengthy illness.Born Aug. 13, 1923, in Carroll County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ephriam Eli Keeney and Margaret Elizabeth Smith Keeney. Twice married, her first husband was Hayden M. Hann, who died Nov. 11, 1955; her second husband of 50 years was William R. Main, who died Dec. 21, 2016.Mrs. Main attended a one-room schoolhouse on Crouse Mill Road. She was employed with the Elmer Wolfe School and Francis Scott Key High School cafeterias, and retired from Springfield Hospital, Sykesville, in 1966. She was a Sunday school teacher for the Union Bridge United Methodist Church. In 1969, she and her husband Bill moved to Florida and resided there for 30 years, where she was very active with Conway United Methodist Church, Orlando, and volunteered at an elementary school, where she enjoyed working with children. She was 101.The Wantagh Fire Department serves all of Wantagh, Seaford Harbor and parts of Levittown, East Meadow and Bellmore. Public Information Officer Kevin Regan said that Swenson, of Wantagh, was a beloved and dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary for more than six decades.Swenson began volunteering for the department in 1956. Regan noted that, during her tenure with the Ladies Auxiliary, she was named an honorary president because she passionately served on many different committees.“Rose was always one of the first people to volunteer to assist,” he added. “Whenever she was around the fire department, she always had a bright smile on her face and genuinely enjoyed being around the Ladies Auxiliary and [the department].”Department officials formally recognized Swenson at the 2014 6th Battalion Parade, which was held in Wantagh.
