State women's field growingThe New York State USBC Association reports this week that  325 teams have already signed up for the 81st New York State Women's Championships next April and May at Tonawanda Bowling Center.Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events tournaments are scheduled for April 8-9, 21-23, 28-30, May 5-7, 19-21.Several squads are already full. They include: April 29, 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; April 30, 1 p.m.; May 20, 9 a.m. 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.; May 21, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.There are plenty of openings, however. Entries close on March 19.The 46th New York State Queens Tournament will be in Niagara Falls.Other state events include the 93rd New York State Open on four weekends in April and May at Ideal Bowling Center in Endicott and the 27th New York State Masters on March 4 at Farmingdale Lanes on Long Island. It carries a $2,500 first prize and paid entry to the 2018 USBC Masters.PBA50  Tour to visit New YorkOnly one of the 14 tournaments on the PBA50 Tour in 2017 will be conducted in New York State, actually the entire Northeast for that matter.The PBA50 Johnny Petraglia BVL Open presented by Brunswick will be held at Farmingdale Lanes.The tour will kickoff with a PBA50 and PBA60 doubleheader at Lane Glo Bowl in New Port Richey, Fla., April 15-20. Lane Glo will host the PBA60 Killer ‘B’ Open April 15-17, to be followed immediately by the PBA50 Pasco County Florida Open April 17-20.PBA50 Tour events scheduled for the state of Indiana – Hammond in the Greater Chicago area, Fort Wayne,  Indianapolis and Anderson.Three named to PBA HallBryan Goebel of Shawnee, Kan., Steve Hoskins of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Mike Scroggins of Amarillo, Texas, were elected to the Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Fame for superior performance. They will be inducted along with meritorious service honoree and former PBA Commissioner Mark Gerberich on Feb., 13, at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee, Okla.Goebel is a 10-time PBA Tour champion who won his lone major in the Brunswick World Tournament of Champions in Overland Park, Kan., in 1998.
