Repository staff report Calling hours for Randy Budd will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 12) at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, followed by the memorial service at 7.In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the GoFundMe account that has been established for the Budd family by friends following Randy's death.The 55-year-old died Saturday night at his Lake Township home of a self-inflicted gunshot. The Stark County Coroner's Office is investigating the death as a suicide. Masses this weekend.By Christina McCune ?Independent staff writerEditor's note: The community was devastated as news quickly spread from Massillon to the rest of the world when fire ravaged the St. Dymphna Shrine and baptistery area, and smoke left soot throughout St. Mary Catholic Church on Aug. 4, 2015.Parishioners feared they had lost their beloved church — a historic structure and local landmark at 206 Cherry Road NE.The cause of the fire was never determined. Restoring the church became an enormous undertaking.The new year — 2016 — brought renewed hope that the task was not impossible, and work began in January. Crews cleaned, fixed and rebuilt as needed. Subcontractors were still in the church this week putting on the finishing touches. And through it all, the community pulled together.St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church became the temporary new home for St. Mary's church members who went across the street for weekly Mass, as well as funerals, weddings and other sacraments. St. Paul's also hosted the music and candlelighting ceremonies last month for the Community Candlelight Walk.On Saturday, St. Mary once again opens its doors, just in time for...

See correction at bottom.MASSILLON  Friends and fellow city officials had much praise Sunday for longtime Law Director Pericles "Perry" Stergios, who died over the weekend.Stergios, a Massillon resident, died Saturday at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia after a battle with cancer. He was 55.Stergios served as city attorney since 2003 and was a past president of the Stark County Bar Association. In addition, he worked as a private attorney in Massillon for a many years.Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry said she knew Stergios for nearly two decades and will always remember his "friendliness and great sense of humor.""Anything you'd talk to him about, he'd have a chuckle or a laugh to go with it," the mayor said on Sunday.
