Obituary: Richard K. Davis - Malibu Times

Big Red” lacrosse team. After graduating with a degree in anthropology, he joined the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and shipped off to Korea. After returning, he went to work for Sperry Rand Univac in New York City, beginning a career in the computer industry. While there, he also married Jane Kiely on May 4, 1957. In 1958, they moved to Berkeley where he earned an MBA in Operations Research from UC Berkeley and they also had the first of their six children. Upon graduating, they moved to Hinsdale, Ill., where he worked for Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche). After two years, they returned to California so that he could go to work for North American Aviation. They took up residence in Malibu. In the early 1970s, he and his business partner acquired Performance Development Corporation. Over the next 40+ years, they would travel the U.S. and the world advising many of the Fortune 500 and various arms of the Federal government. Davis was a longtime board member and president of the LaCosta Homeowners Association, he was president of Malibu Coastal Vision and was an active alumnus backer of the New Mexico Military Institute. He was named the 2004 Citizen of the Year by The Malibu Times. More recently, he organized a concert in Malibu to raise funds for the homeless. In his spare time, he traveled the world, sometimes with his wife and sometimes to exotic surf spots with his kids and other surfing buddies. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sarah, and is survived by his wife of 59 years, five children, 11 grandchildren and one step-grandchild. The funeral mass was held on Saturday, April 1, at Our Lady of Malibu Church.

(Gilbert) Flowers.Ed graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1948. After graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in Japan from 1954-1956.Ed's uncles, Chester and Ted Gilbert, brought him into the family furniture business, Atherton's, in Attleboro.In 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Claire Avis Stevenson, and they settled in West Mansfield.Ed and his family spent many idyllic summers together at their cottage in Onset. He continued to sail in Onset Bay into his 70's and was still riding his bike at 84. He traveled all over the U.S. and Canada, including several memorable road trips with his great friends Nick and Phyl Sinnott. Ed especially enjoyed visiting his daughters in South Carolina and Washington State. He hiked in the North Cascades, rafted the Rogue River and climbed to the crater at Mt. St. Helens. He walked the streets of Charleston and Savannah, kayaked in the Santee Canal and vacationed in Hilton Head. In his later years, Ed spent winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and is fondly remembered for his unique accent while calling bingo.Ed is survived by his daughters Debra F. Morris (Joe) of Columbia, S.C. and Nancy J. Flowers of Everett, Wash. He was pre-deceased by his wife Claire in 1978, both parents, his brother Richard, and his sister Corinne. A private celebration of Ed's life will take place later in July.Some of Ed's happiest moments were spent on the waters around Onset and Cape Cod. She was born August 4, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Olive Marie Coble Metcalf and Leonard Pearl Metcalf. Peggy married the love of her life, Thomas Alfred Robinson, Sr. November 21, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Peggy was a former Editor for the Owasso Reporter from 1982 - 2002 where she wrote her column "A View From My Window" for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
