Willard Virgil Ammons, 77, husband of Nance Wilson Ammons, died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with lung disease.A native of Prineville, OR, he was the son of the late Paul Alexander and Velma Keeton Ammons.Mr. Ammons was graduate of Central Weslyan University and served in the US Air Force at Donaldson Center and in Saudi Arabia. He retired from Fluor Daniel after twenty years and was a long-time member of the South Greenville Masonic Lodge.In retirement, he enjoyed golfing with his senior action buddies, fishing on the coast with his family, and trips up the Blue Ridge Parkway.Surviving, in addition to his wife, Nance, are son, Todd Ammons and wife, Ann, of Greer; sister, Sandra Ammons of Rock Springs, WY; brothers, Douglas and Ronald Ammons, both of Powell Butte, OR; and grandchildren, Taylor Alexander Ammons and Ian Marshall Ammons.Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017, from 4:45 - 5:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, downtown. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m., in the Downtown Chapel.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasmcafee.com .
