Letter: A special thanks to the community from First Night Warrenton - Fauquier Times

Monday, January 16, 2017

Wow, what a fantastic event!A hearty thanks to all who helped make our 2016 First Night Warrenton an incredible success this year: world class entertainment, great teamwork and generous sponsors worked together to bring the evening's attendance to more than 1,500, a great turnout for an exceptional community event. On a beautiful and crisp winter evening between 7 p.m. and midnight, Bluemont’s First Night Warrenton presented a wonderful variety of 29 performing groups and activities, totaling 49 performances at 17 toasty-warm indoor sites. At midnight, hundreds of friends and families gathered at the beautiful Fauquier County Courthouse for the Grand Illumination; a candle-lit sing-along with a dramatic countdown into the New Year as the Old Courthouse bell pealed out twelve times for good fortune for us all in 2017. Special thanks to Mayor Powell Dugan who introduced our countdown to midnight and welcomed all First Night attendees into the New Year.Bluemont is most grateful for the generous outpouring of support from many businesses and organizations throughout the commun...
