BUCKHANNON — Montford S. Corley, 94, of Buckhannon, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at home of his son. He was born Jan. 16, 1923 in Belington, a son of the late George E. and Lula Phillips Corley. On Dec. 23, 1943 he married Bernice Layne who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David Corley and wife Diane, of Buckhannon and Montford J. Corley and wife Joanne, of Richmond, Va.; two grandsons, Andrew K. Corley and wife Bethany, of Wake Forest, N.C. and Christopher R. Corley and wife Erin, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one great-grandson, Joss E. Corley, of Cincinnati,  and one great-granddaughter, Anne E. Corley of Wake Forest. Mr. Corley was a member of the Belington Lodge  125 A.F. & A.M. and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Wheeling Lodge.  Mr. Corley was a foreman for Consol Energy and was a member of the Chamberlayne Height United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, after a brief illness.She was born May 28, 1946 in Grafton, a daughter of the late Wilford and Letha (Norris) Cox.She married her high school (Buckhannon Upshur High School) sweetheart, Charles L. Spencer, on Dec. 27, 1962. Together they raised five children: Charles Aaron and wife, Stephanie (Turnbull) Spencer, Leah (Spencer) Phillips and boyfriend, Greg Dillsworth, of Philippi, Brian and wife Jamie (Cyrus) Spencer, of Kenova, Grant and Melissa (Kile) Spencer, of Bridgeport, and Andrea (Spencer) Klepfel and husband Eric Klepfel, of Grafton.She also had five grandchildren: Darian and Audrey Spencer, Chase and Aidan Klepfel and Brody Spencer.In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by four siblings: Gary Cox and wife Jean, Jane (Cox) McDaniels and husband Roland, Darleta (Cox) Chambers and husband, Ken, and Kathy (Cox) Poling and husband Tom; also survived by several nieces and nephews.She retired from the Taylor County Board of Education. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren.Friends and family were received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 4-8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

BUCKHANNON — Frederick Perry Westfall, 72, of Buckhannon, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.He was born on Dec. 29, 1943 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Don Westfall and Lorna Bodkin Westfall-Mellow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Irving Mellow and former wife, Darleen C. Westfall. He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Hollen and husband Robert, of Ellamore; three granddaughters, Mandy, Abby and Tessa Hollen, all of Ellamore; three sisters, Nancy Garcia, of New Jersey, Serena Loos and Stephanie Mellow, both of Florida, and three brothers, Eric, Charles and Andrew Mellow, all of Florida.Mr. Westfall served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Fort Sill, Okla. BUCKHANNON — Barbara Ann Williams Watts, 82, of Buckhannon, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 21, 2016 at Colonial Place in Elkins, while under their wonderful care, along with Mountain Hospice. She was born Tuesday, Nov. 20, 1934, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Heyward and Lota Garvin Williams. Surviving is her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Watts, with whom she was united in marriage on Nov. 29, 1952, at the Braddock Street Methodist Church in Winchester, Va. Also, surviving is her daughter, Diane Tuggle and husband Lynnwood, of Buckhannon, and four sons, David and wife Jennifer of Richmond, Va., Charles Jr. and wife Jeri of Lynchburg, Va., Douglas and Kitty of Richmond and Danny and wife Gina of Bridgeport, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
