Even with the physical struggles of the last years he continued to take great joy in near weekly trips to Marquette, Black River Falls, or other casinos, as well as weekly bingo nights at the La Crescent Legion. His joie-de-vivre was apparent even after the recent fall when he was still planning how to get to bingo.Ralph is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Boardman of La Crescent, Gail (Ried) Boom of Manchester, Iowa; five grandchildren, Rob (Lisa) La Crosse, Rian (Jeanette) of Eureka, Calif., Alex (Mackenzie) of Des Moines, Iowa, Hannah of New Zeland, Ian of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.In addition to his wife, Lobie, he was preceded in death by one son. Tommy; and one sister. Betty Waldo.Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent Chapel, 111 South Oak St. The Rev. Robert J. Cook will officiate. Burial with military rites by the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595 will be in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crescent. Friends may call on the family from 9 a.m until the time of services Saturday morning at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Ralph’s memory. She was born May 2, 1935 in Mauston, WI, to Clarence and Maxine (Crouch) Markgraf. Clarice was a graduate of Elroy High School in Elroy, WI. She was united in marriage to Rodney Zirk, and together they lived in southern Wisconsin, around Janesville. They were later divorced. Clarice later was united in marriage to Arthur “Bud” Phillips on January 21, 1989 in Sparta, WI. While living in Black River Falls, she worked as a volunteer for the Jackson County Historical Society, in the History Room. Clarice had a great passion for History and Genealogy, she also enjoyed going to garage sales and going out to eat. She was a member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), Jackson County Historical Society, along with many other counties.Clarice is survived by her children: Richard Zirk of Pigeon Falls, WI, Ronald (Susan) Zirk and Robin (Lori) Zirk, both of Janesville, WI, Rian (Kathy) Zirk...

He attended Polk County Teachers College and met the love of his life, Karen Lindberg. They were married in 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church of Trade Lake.  Clayton started teaching in the Black River Falls School District in the fall of 1962. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, a master of science degree in teaching from UW - Eau Claire and his administration specialist degree from UW - Superior.After teaching two years in the Black River Falls School District, Karen and Clayton were hired to teach in the Grantsburg School system. Clayton was an elementary schoolteacher and became the elementary school principal. He served the Grantsburg School District for over 36 years. He retired in 2000 to become a stay-at-home grandpa.Clayton was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church of Trade Lake, Wis. Over the years he was involved in many community and statewide activities, and was very supportive of youth and their activities.  Clayton was a Boy Scout leader, 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher and worked with the Grantsburg High School football team for many years. When he retired, he received the Going the Extra Mile for Kids Award from the Grantsburg School District.Clayton was a civic-minded person and served on the Grantsburg Village Board, the Burnett County Board and many local and statewide committees. In 2004, Clayton received the Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association. He was very involved in many local history events and tractor events. The biggest joy of his life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen, who was always by his side and helped him in every way. He is also survived by his son, Greg (Heather) Jorgensen; his daughter, Janelle (Jeff) Hermann; his grandchildren, Bella, Sophie, Max and Will Jorgensen; Danielle, Chris and Lauren Hermann; as well as his little dog, Marley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frances Jorgensen; siblings, Catherine and Carlton; and great-nephew, Chris Olson.Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg. Spencer, formerly of Janesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. George was born November 8, 1944, to Vernon and Veda Wald in Black River Falls. He attended Beloit Memorial School. George was united in marriage to Dianna Greenwood, she passed away in 1972. He was later united in marriage to LuAnne Holmes, who passed away in 2010. George proudly served his country in the United States Marines as a Sergeant including three tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Marines his employment included the Janesville Sheriff’s Department, Beloit Corporation and the Stop N Go. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and gun collecting.Survivors include his three children: Barbara (Jesus) Celis of Wisconsin, Tami (John) Peshek of Arizona and Michael (Mary) Wald of Wisconsin; his two stepchildren: Shawn (Lacey) Holmes and Candice Peterson, both of Wisconsin.
