He was born January 6, 1930 in Durand, WI, the son of Horace and Esther (Johnson) Story. Dale was a 1948 graduate of South Beloit High School, South Beloit, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Dale married Roberta H. Smith on June 16, 1951 in First United Methodist Church, Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on January 8, 2008. Dale was formerly employed by Besly-Welles, Regal Beloit and North American Tool. He was a very active member of River of Life United Methodist Church where he was on numerous committees throughout the years. Dale was an avid Chicago Bear fan.Survivors include his three children: Lynn (Bill) Schyvinck of Milton, WI, Elaine (Gregg) Schiefelbein of Woodruff, WI and Philip Story of Beloit, WI; grandchildren: Derek (Lisa) Schyvinck, Scott (Sara) Schyvinck, Christy Schyvinck, Cassy Schyvinck, Joni (Jason) Peterson, Lori Schiefelbein, Tami (Tyler Evans) Crowe, Alex Story and Sophie Story; great-grandchildren: Aaron, Allison, RaeAnne, Nathan, Ashlyn, Zach, Anna, Braydon...

Hearing the command, Lulu, a therapy dog who comforts mourners at Ballard-Durand Funeral & Cremation Services in Westchester County, N.Y., puts her paws up onto the kneeler and tilts her head down.“She’s an added source of comfort,’’ says Fiorillo, who owns the business. “She has a calming presence. She’s a social dog who loves people and has great instincts. She’ll curl up into a ball and lay down next to an older person, or jump around with kids. Richard J. “Dick” Durand, 67, of Southbridge died Thursday, July 28, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Millette) Durand. He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1966 and then entered into the United States Army serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War.Dick leaves his wife of 10 years, Anne C. (Pettee) Durand; his son Richard Durand and his wife Lisa of Auburn; four siblings, Joseph Durand of North Carolina, Samuel Durand of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Linda Durand, and John Durand of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; several nieces, nephews; many wonderful friends and his two dogs, Charlie and Tia. Dick was predeceased by his daughter, Janice in 2014.Dick has worked in the Construction business all of his life, with companies such as Modern Continental Construction in Cambridge and George Cairns and Sons in Windham, NH.
