Milwaukee, Wisconsin the child of the late Frank “Francis” and Estell Barbara Cieslewicz Wanta. Phyllis was a graduate of Riverside High School and resided in the Milwaukee suburb of Shorewood for many years. In 2003 , she moved to the Leesburg area after retiring from the Boston Stores in Milwaukee.Phyllis enjoyed participating in her church and staying current on world events. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. She also enjoyed spending time visiting family in California.She will be dearly missed by her best friend, adopted sister and partner in crime, Gloria Ubich of Leesburg. She was preceeded in death by a brother Fabian Wanta, and a sister Irene SimonShe is survived by one sister Lucille Janasik, of Lincoln, California, neice Julie Ruark (David) of Auburn, California, and nephews Paul and Mark Simon (Cathy) of California.Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday April 6, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM . Wake services will begin at 6:00 PM Tuesday night. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 , 8:30 AM atSt. Pauls Catholic Church, Leesburg. Followed by entombment at Hillcrest Memory Gardens,Leesburg. He attended St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, where he earned a Master's of Divinity degree and served as Associate Pastor at St. Robert Catholic Church in Shorewood, Wis. Electing not to continue as a priest, TR attended University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received a Master's in communication.On Dec. 30, 1969, he married Joan Zancanaro Diamond in Milwaukee. They lived in Madison, until 2002 when the call to be near their daughter and grandchildren drew them to Colorado. After a year in the Denver area, TR and Joan moved to Longmont, where they have made their home.TR had a long career in association management, where he helped moderate policy, legal and member benefits. He spent 20 plus years working for the Wisconsin Wholesale Beer Distributor's Association.While in Madison, TR and Joan were long time volunteers for Madison's HospiceCare. They were leaders in the 1998 $6 million fund-raising effort for the construction of the HospiceCare Fitchburg facility.Through his hospice experience, in conjunction with his ministry background, a desire grew in TR to be a hospice chaplain. He received his Chaplaincy accreditation through the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. He then spent several years as a chaplain for Hospice of Boulder County, providing care and comfort to the dying and their families.TR enjoyed playing golf, was passionate about opera and loved to travel with Joan. Cathy Kehoe, who — in part because of her mother's work — is now an advocate for seniors with dementia, and their families.Two years ago, Bauer moved from Whitefish Bay to a condo in Shorewood. There she helped establish a memory cafe, where people with dementia and their caregivers socialize and share stories.Art was a big part of her life and her public service. She studied painting under well-known local artists, traveled widely with art history in mind and donated many works."Last year it was the 'summer of mom' in my garden," recalled another daughter, Nora Biersack. "She painted whatever was in bloom."She doted on her grandchildren, including long stretches of time in Florida visiting her son Steve and family.Fran Bauer is survived by daughters Cathy Kehoe (Ed Krause), Nora (Mark) Biersack and son Steve Bauer (Dana Hunter), four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Fran BauerThe memorial service for Fran Bauer is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1100 N. Astor St., Milwaukee 53202.The family will greet friends after the service.
