Steven H. Freking, 59, of Whitewater, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from injuries sustained in an accident near Tulsa, Oklahoma.Steve was born Feb. 6, 1958, in Le Mars, to Herman "Junior" and Betty Freking. He grew up on a farm near Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1977. Following graduation, he attended a community college in South Dakota and then graduated from Iowa State University in 1984 with a degree in aeronautical engineering.Steve Married Micayla Holthe on Oct. 19, 1985, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. The couple lived in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Whitewater, Kansas, where they resided for 25 years. They have resided in Skiatook, Oklahoma, for the last year.Steve was a lifelong member of Theta Ki at Iowa State University and of the Knights of Columbus.He enjoyed being with his family, designing airplanes, golfing, watching Iowa State Cyclones, anything free, DQ ice cream with Oreos and Braum's burgers.Steve enjoyed the times spent with family, includi...

Mike was born in Janesville, WI to Emmett “Bud” and Elizabeth “Betty” Fanning on April 25, 1954. He was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1972, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Mike was a project supervisor for Ryan Central for over 37 years, all along the east coast. On July 6, 1992, Mike was united in marriage to Nancy Boone at the Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield, VA.Mike loved his family, friends, and the Washington Nationals, but the Green Bay Packers were his favorite. He passed peacefully while watching the Packers game, with numerous family and friends! He will also be greatly missed for his wit, charm, and kind heart, along with his unique sense of humor and the infinite pearls of wisdom he shared along the journey. Mike was a dedicated and loving husband to Nancy, and an outstanding father to Michael. His legacy will remain in their hearts forever.Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy of Fairfax Station; and his son, Michael (friend Jackie). Also survived by his mother-in-law, Ona Belle Boone of Wilsie, WV; his brothers, Pat (Penny) Fanning of Janesville and Joseph (Kelley) of Burlington, WI; brother-in-laws: Greg Totten of Melrose, WI, Darris (Donna) Boone of Leesburg, VA, and Garrett (Marilyn) Boone of Frametown, WV; sisters-in-law, Ellen (friend Frank Light) Boone of Woodbine, MD; and Dianna (Doug) Grounds of Manassas, VA.

Fire Department for 21 years, serving as Chief for four years. He served as a board member of REMC for 26 years and the Abington Township Board of Trustees for eight years. Duane was a member of the Whitewater Valley Antique Truck and Tractor Club and many other agricultural and farming clubs and boards. He was a member of the Abington Christian Church. Duane was a tractor enthusiast.Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Wiggs Smoker; daughter, Sharon A. (David) Stevenson of Cookeville, Tennessee; son, Gail R. Smoker of Abington, Indiana; grandchildren, David A. (Jenna) Smoker, Brittaney L. (Stephen) Sawyer, Jacob Stevenson, Sarah (Darin) Smoker Lucas, and Jessica Smoker; great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Bud) Parrish of Abington; nieces; nephews; and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert D.
