Kayleigh McClendon, the 7-year-old Alabama girl whose six-month battle with cancer caught the attention of the country after her story was shared on social media.Kayleigh died Tuesday at her home in Hartselle, according to her mother, 'Carrow McClendon."At 10:05 this morning our precious girl slipped from earth to eternity," 'Carrow wrote to the almost 50,000 followers of the "Prayers for Kayleigh" Facebook page. "God granted Kayleigh perfect, beautiful peace. She was not in pain. She was wrapped tightly in my arms with her Daddy by her side as she gently drew her last breath. God was so good to spare us from watching her struggle. And she is in heaven. Dancing. Twirling. Laughing. Beautiful. Whole. Healthy."Kayleigh McClendon was diagnosed in May with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas, an aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumor found at the base of the brain. The men were at Dutton's home at 606 8th St. SW. Dutton then pulled a gun and fired a shot at McLemore's feet. Raising the gun, he then allegedly shot McLemore in the stomach. McLemore, 27, of Hartselle was unarmed when he was shot, the documents say. He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died of his wounds. The victim, who leaves behind a wife and 3-year-old son, was a U.S. Army veteran, according to his obituary. He was a welder for Hubbard & Drake.An account has been set up to help his family at People's Bank of North Alabama. Donations can be made to the Josh McLemore Memorial Fund. Tuesday's shooting is not the first time Dutton is accused of pulling a gun on someone. The Decatur Daily reports that he was stabbed several times in the head in 2012 during a fight across the street from his business, located on Moulton Street downtown. The stabbing occurred after Dutton brandished a weapon at the man, the newspaper reports.
