Frances “Willie” Griffith, age 107 of Bumpus Mills, TN, passed away, Friday, November 4, 2016 at her home. She was born August 5, 1909 in Russellville, KY daughter of the late Jacob and Nancy Bilyeu Brady. Mrs. Griffith worked 25 years at Kroger in the Meat Department, she was the first female member of the Meat Cutter’s Union. She was very active in the community, with memberships at the Stewart County Senior Citizen Center, Stewart County Friends of the Public Library, Stewart County Historical Society, Tennessee Farm Bureau, AARP since 1981, and a founding father of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Riley Griffith, daughter, Felicia Gillman, brothers, Gordon Brady, Jake Brady, sisters, Louise Wood, Irene Fuqua, Elizabeth White and sons-in-law, Ed Miller, Bill Montgomery, Tommy Heath, Bill Billman, and Joe Gillman. She retired from Jakel in Murray. She was a member of Coles Campground United Methodist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday school class and a member of the United Methodist Women. She served as the church pianist and was a member of the church choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lois Dee Farris, who died Sept. 16, 2016.Mrs. Farris is survived by two daughters, Debbie Daniel and husband Mike of Murray and Deanna Askin and husband Keith of Louisville; one sister, Martha Perkins Farris of Murray; five grandchildren, Kelsey Daniel, Allie Pollock and husband Justen and Sydney Daniel, all of Murray and Ryan Askin and Luke Askin, both of Louisville.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Stephen Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Coles Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery. Frances “Willie” Griffith, age 107 of Bumpus Mills, TN, passed away, Friday, November 4, 2016 at her home. She was born August 5, 1909 in Russellville, KY daughter of the late Jacob and Nancy Bilyeu Brady. Mrs. Griffith worked 25 years at Kroger in the Meat Department, she was the first female member of the Meat Cutter’s Union. She was very active in the community, with memberships at the Stewart County Senior Citizen Center, Stewart County Friends of the Public Library, Stewart County Historical Society, Tennessee Farm Bureau, AARP since 1981, and a founding father of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Riley Griffith, daughter, Felicia Gillman, brothers, Gordon Brady, Jake Brady, sisters, Louise Wood, Irene Fuqua, Elizabeth White and sons-in-law, Ed Miller, Bill Montgomery, Tommy Heath, Bill Billman, and Joe Gillman.
